Notwithstanding ideological limitations and a harsh censorship, the heritage of Kinostudio is an integral part of the Albania's culture and tradition.
The Central State’s Film Archive of Albania (AQSHF) is the legal custodian of the Albanian cinematographic production started from the year 1947 and onwards, largely consisting of the productions from one single state-owned entity, the “New Albania” studio, which started its activity in 1952 and was closed in 1992.
The cinematographic collection stored in the archive also contains:
• Archive materials collected through the privatization process of the feature length films, documentary films and chronicles produces by foreign studios, from the beginning to the end of the Second World War, considered as spoils of war.
• Filmed materials deposited according to the legal provisions that started to apply since 1945, which include the materials produced by foreign film directors based on the new state-run agreements.
• Copies of filmed materials of foreign productions bought by the state.
• Archive footage
• Materials received through exchange with other archives.
The AQSHF continues to enrich its collection through the addition of the new Albanian productions and through the joint productions between Albanian and international studios that have started since 1992. Every Albanian production funded by the QKK is obliged by law to deposit a copy of the product in three types of media, namely the negative, the positive and the phonogram as established in the pertinent funding contract.
A further enrichment of the AQSHF collection was made possible through the voluntary contributions. Any producer is entitled to deposit his or her work to the central film archive. In case the production is on 35 mm, it will be part of the main collection; if it comes in a digital format or tape it will be included in the media archive.
In addition to the film collection that includes the original negative copy and an archive copy of the original film, the central archive stores and maintains other material that are of relevance to the history of the productions, such as film scripts, director’s notes, editing lists, photographs, negatives of the photographs, promotional materials, soundtracks and notes of the soundtracks, and posters. The original documentation also entails bibliographic and reference information, press materials, publications related to the films, photos from the history of the cinematography, biographical data on Albanian film directors, documentation on the equipment used and everything that is related to film history.

Best cinematographic productions made in Albania by renown Albanian authors such as Hakani, Erebara, Dhamo, Anagnosti, Gjika, Misha, Milkani, Keko, Fejzo, Hoshafi, Kumbaro, Ljarja, Muca, Mitro, Mysliu, Pecani, Prifti, Cashku, Topallaj, Zhabjaku, Dafa, Tane, Ibro, Xhuvani, Minarolli, Koci, Bisha, Ruka, Minga, Shanaj, etc.
The classical collection of world cinematography includes works from Eisenstein, Cukor, Engels, Camerini, Blasetti, Mastrocinque, Castellani, Ballerini, Bragaglia, Damiani, De Sica, Lizzani, Rosellini, De Santis, Visconti, Zeffirelli, Dreville, Pagnol, Tourneur, Hitchcock, Goldwyn, McDonald, Baky, Froehlich, Sellers, Kazan etc.
LUCE collection. The central archive holds an important part of the Italian historical productions of the Luce institute that accounts for 10% of the collection.
