| Synopsis | The announcer speaks about the death of Fan Noli. Telephone exchanges. A printing house publishing newspapers with the news of his death. The church in America where Fan Noli is laid to rest. Photographs from his funeral ceremony in America, with wreaths sent from Albania. At the State University of Tirana, a meeting is held dedicated to Fan Noli, attended by Manush Myftiu and Ramiz Alia. The rector, Kahreman Ylli, speaks. A minute of silence is observed. Dhimitër Shuteriqi speaks about Noli’s activity (synchronous). Veteran writer Milto Sotir Gurra recites one of Noli’s satirical poems. Newspapers are shown reporting on Noli and his activities, including the newspaper “Dielli” with his full text about the Ballists. Noli’s works are displayed, along with Albanian rhapsody and musical scores, and photographs of him. Pavlina Mani, a school student, recites a poem about Bajram Curri. A painting of Bajram Curri is shown. The act begins with the letter of instruction left by Noli appointing Father Stefan Lasko as his successor. Father Stefan Lasko arrives in Durrës. Church bells ring in the Durrës church. Clergy gather inside. The Archbishop of all Albania, His Grace Paisios, the Bishop of Gjirokastër and administrator of Korçë, Bishop Dhimianos, and the Bishop of Berat are present. Father Stefan Lasko is vested in episcopal robes. Bishop Dhimianos, on behalf of the Holy Synod and the clergy, offers his greetings. Archbishop Stefan gives thanks. They arrive in Tirana, where the new Orthodox Church of the Annunciation on Kavaja Street is inaugurated. Notices announce the death of Fan Noli and the memorial service held in the new church. People enter the church. The memorial service begins, with Niko Cami delivering the eulogy. The church hall fills with people. Individuals light candles. Archbishop Stefan speaks before the faithful. The film ends with beautiful Albanian landscapes, views of industrial works and cultivated lands seen from an airplane. |
