Visual artist Eljan Tanini is appointed as Director of the Albanian National Film Archive, on July 10, 2025.

He completed his studies at the “Jordan Misja” Arts High School in Tirana, painting-graphics department (2006), and completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies in Philosophy, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana (2011).

He has published the essay reflection “Tregu i Zeros” (2009) and the poem “Pa pik'” (2016). Also, Tanini’s literary materials have been published and translated in several anthologies in the Balkans and beyond.

He is the author of several personal and collective exhibitions in the country and abroad. (2016 and later). Since 2016 he has realized and is the author of several works of visual art, such as murals and installations in Tirana and Albania, where among others the following are highlighted: The Prrenjas Mining Towers painted with lady beetle designs, Guri i Kuq Pogradec, Kavajë Children’s Home for Disabled Children, “Myslym Shyri” Street, the Fish Palace in Tirana, the walls of the Ministry of Education, the origami installation of Çufo and Bubit Kaçurrel on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, the installation of the Skoda of 2 July 1990 on the back wall of the German Embassy and the origami airplane at the Aviation Field in Tirana. These installations are connected to the collective memory.

Creator and collaborator of the initiative spread throughout Albania “Plant Your Own Tree”, an initiative for which Tanini, together with his friends, received the Act Now Award of the Year from the American Embassy in Tirana, given by Ambassador Arvizu (2012-2014). Tanini won the international “Focus” award with the photograph “Like a Kiss for Dad”.

Eljan Tanini is also a journalist and moderator of the shows “Essence” and “Amarcord” on Report TV, shows that focus on Albania’s past and nostalgia.
