Title The white gold
Synopsis Documentary starts with the green cotton fields, a peasant looking at the cotton seed from which the planting work will begin. The cotton seed is analysed at the laboratory, so to be clean and not affected by diseases. The area that will be planted with cotton is preliminarily serviced. It is cleaned of old roots, which are then burned. Fertilizer is applied two days before autumn fertilization. After fertilization, deep ploughing continues. The canals are cleaned, the soil is eased, and the seeds are being prepared. Then it is put in a bucket of water to be moistened, disinfected and rubbed with sand. The seed must be planted on April 30. Planting is done with tractors with square slots and straight rows. When the plant grows, pruning is done in two directions. The earth’s crust is broken with pitchforks and hand combs. The germinating plant is thinned and then four other thinning. The cotton technician looks after the plant to ensure that it is not affected by diseases or worms. She takes the leaf of the plant and sees that it is affected by gramozone. The types of cotton pests are shown. Agronomists gathering at the Agricultural Research Institute of Lushnja, exchanging their furrow irrigation experience. The growth buds of the cotton are cut so that the plant strengthens the fruit branches at the agricultural cooperative of Krutje. Villagers sewing aprons to pick cotton. Harvest begins.
