| Description | May 1, 1958. Beautiful flowers, white roses. In the morning of May 1, the people came out in the streets of the capital with musical instruments. Leaders Enver Hoxha, Mehmet Shehu, Beqir Balluku, workers and other guests enter the stands. Hysni Kapo gives a speech on the May 1 holiday. The parade is opened by gymnasts on motorcycles and holding in their hands the flags of our country and other socialist countries. Behind them, student girls’ parade with bracelets in their hands and with Enver Hoxha’s portrait. Then come the working masses with the portraits of the members of the Labour Party of Albania and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The miners, the workers of the “Stalin” textile combine with the plan’s graphics pass by. The employees of the glass factory with the models produced in the country, the villagers with canisters filled with cotton, the employees of art and culture with the portrait of Enver Hoxha surrounded by flowers. Enver Hoxha and Haxhi Lleshi greet the people with their hands. Spiro Koleka assists. Sailors with a steamer, fishermen with nets. In Berat, the people also parade, in Shkoder. Tirana on the evening of May 1, the workers in the “Skanderbeg” square are dancing, throwing fireworks. |
