DESCRIPTION:GENERATION OF IMAGES / Sound / 2025 / 103min \nA documentary film by Johannes Gierlinger \n“We sing a lullaby\, not to lull to sleep\,\nthis giant baby of iron and concrete.\nWe sing a lullaby so it grows stronger\, and upon it\,\nincessantly the revolution can walk.” \nA poem as a wake-up call for revolution\, or rather a regime-compliant lullaby? GENERATIONS OF IMAGES embarks on a search for traces through the profound transformation processes of Albanian history. In the archives\, forgotten places\, and memories of different generations\, ruptures and continuities become visible\, left behind by the transition from communist dictatorship to capitalist democracy. GENERATIONS OF IMAGES finds its own language to analyse regime images and image regimes. It is the language of poetry that rejects the logic and linearity of conventional historiography\, allows for contradictions\, and expresses itself as both thought and action. It makes it possible not only to look at images but to let them speak for themselves\, to find new meanings and to create underlying narratives. In this way\, generations of images form a multi-layered and polyphonic picture of history\, which often tells less about the past than about an ambivalent relationship to it and shows how deeply the traces of history are inscribed in the fabric of the present. \n∣ Credits ∣

DESCRIPTION:Në 1975 një gjeneral i njohur i ushtrisë shqiptare\, i cili kishte ngritur fermën e parë të kuajve në Shqipëri\, u dënua me vdekje për grushtin e shtetit “puçist”. Pas dënimit të të gjithë të implikuarve në grushtin e shtetit\, kalohet në zhdukjen e çdo lloj vepre për të cilën mund të mbajnë meritë “puçistët”. Kjo shënon fillimin e ekzekutimit të kuajve. Bëhet fjalë për kuajt e racës Arba. Agroni (protagonisti) shpëton një kalë dhe për këtë dënohet nga gjyqi ushtarak. Pas kësaj jeta e tij fillon të copëtohet. E shoqja\, nën presionin e prindërve dhe motrës\, kërkon divorcin dhe aborton fëmijën që priste. Për pasojë vdes nga një hemorragji\, pasi aborti ishte kryer në mënyrë klandestine. Mbas përmbysjes së sistemit\, të dënuarit politikë lirohen dhe Agroni\, të cilin nuk e pret askush te dera e burgut\, kërkon prindërit në shtëpinë ku banonin por mëson se i kanë internuar menjëherë pas dënimit të tij. Më në fund takon “xhelatin” e tij\, që në sistemin e ri ka bërë përsëri karrierë dhe është zgjedhur deputet. Filmi mbyllet me protagonistin “në rrugë të madhe” dhe antagonistin duke ngjitur shkallët. Ky është filmi i parë shqiptar që ve në dukje anët negative të sistemit komunist për shoqërinë shqiptare. Ai përfaqëson një nga pasqyrimet më realiste të përndjekjes politike gjatë Diktaturës së Proletariatit në Shqipëri.
