| Description | Berat, January 6–7, 1978. Scenes of people in the streets. Footage of the hall in Berat where the people’s trial against four individuals from Poshnja is to take place, accused of carrying out hostile activities against the people’s government. The panel of judges enters and the defendants stand up. The case is to be tried by the Military Collegium of the Berat District Court with the following panel: Presiding Judge Ali Zanko, assistant judges Nexhip Memushi and Sofokli Pere, prosecutor Qemal Lame, and secretary Enise Kurteshi. The accused are Ushtar Muço Çobo, Riza Ahmet Azizi, Luftetar Sako Protoduari, and Muharrem Sako Protoduari. Prosecutor Qemal Lame speaks (synchronous sound), reading the indictment. People outside listen to the session through loudspeakers. The defendants sit and listen. They are accused of attempting to blow up the “Mao Zedong” Textile Combine in Berat, attempting to escape the country, leading a depraved life, etc. Shots of the courtroom. The verdict is delivered, sentencing Riza Ahmet Azizi and Luftetar Sako Protoduari to death by firing squad, Ushtar Çobo to 25 years in prison, and Muharrem Protoduari to 20 years in prison. |
